Αλ-Ανών Al-Anon
Family Groups
Al-anon Purpose
Each Al-Anon Family Group has one purpose:
To help families and friends of alcoholics.
We do this by:
-
Offering comfort, hope and friendship to the families and friends of problem drinkers.
-
Sharing experience in facing the family disease of alcoholism and learning how the
Al-Anon programme helps us to give understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.
-
Offering serenity and a more rational approach to life and its problems.
Al-Anon members learn to accept alcoholism as a disease.
They learn to reduce tension, both in themselves and in their families.
Membership in an Al-Anon group and regular attendance at meetings show us new ways to
deal with our problem. We find friends who understand.
By becoming part of a contstructive program, it is possible to achieve personal fulfillment
and a new way of living.
In Al-Anon we seek to improve ourselves. We learn that our growth and serenity depend
upon focusing on ourselves.
We do not criticize or condemn the alcoholic or discuss the alcoholics's shortcomings
with others.
Strict avoidance of gossip preserves group unity and protects the anonymity of our members and those in AA.
